Society bombards us with ways to spend our precious resources, but very few of them truly yield everlasting results. When we declare that we BELONG to God, we turn all we are and all we have over to God's control - our money, our property, our time, our energy, our body. Instead of owners, we now act as caretakers.
At the Grand Family, we believe that one of many ways we express our love for God is through how we handle our finances. The Bible teaches us to give ten percent (a tithe) back to God, to be used by the local church to share the love of Christ with other people.
In today's wired world, giving financially is easier than ever before. Although many Christians prefer to give to the local church by writing a check or giving cash, you can also give electronically, in two simple ways:
Many Christians use debit or credit cards as a convenient way to handle routine financial transactions. Unfortunately, some also carry heavy consumer debt on their credit cards. We strongly urge Christians to eliminate consumer debt and not use credit cards unless they consistently pay their balance. However, if you prefer to make donations through the use of a credit card, we have three giving options described below. These payments are cleared through PayPal, and you can elect to make those payments through your bank account or through a debit or credit card. Each of these options is processed through PayPal and your giving will be recorded by our church financial secretary.
Your tithes and offerings are used to continue the mission of our church: to help people Belong, Believe and Become.
Your gifts to Global Missions will be split between International Missions (50%), North American Missions (25%), State Missions (15%) and Local Missions (10%). For more information, see below.
Your gifts to our Beyond Measure Campaign help us with major campus transformation and improvements. A list of ongoing projects is available in the church office, or by contacting the church administrator. For more info about Beyond Measure, click here
Each year, church leaders prepare a budget, outlining expected receipts and planned expenses. These budgeted expenses are paid through the tithes and offerings of church members. A church administrator maintains financial records on receipts and expenses, and reports those to an elected board of church leaders, and to the church as a whole. Your tithes and offerings ensure that the church continues to reach out to our community, and around the world, with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Grand Avenue Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). We are an autonomous church, but we ascribe to the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the SBC. A portion (over 10%) of all budget giving is distributed to various SBC missions enterprises. The majority of our missions giving goes to the Cooperative Program, which distributes those funds to various international, national, state and local missions groups. However, we also encourage members to give additional amounts to missions causes. Seasonal giving efforts help supplement our financial support of International Missions (the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering), North American Missions (the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering) and State Missions (the Dixie Jackson Offering). However, members may give additional amounts to "Global Missions" throughout the year, and those finances are divided among the various missions enterprises listed above.
