Our Core Values
Grand Avenue Baptist Church exists to reach the River Valley, the United States, and the Nations for Jesus Christ.

We take Jesus' words literally and seriously when he says to go and make disciples of all nations. We are endeavoring to be a church that is missional in everything that we do locally, nationally, and globally. It is our desire to make a difference in the global harvest through our own mission projects and through the work of the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Our pathway that we provide to get people involved in the Great Commission can best be described in three words...
Belong
Everybody needs a family. Everbody needs a place to belong. It does not matter what your history is or where you have come from or even what you are now - you are welcome and BELONG at Grand Avenue Baptist Church. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus did not say that you had to clean your life up first. He simply said, “Come.”
When you walk through the doors at GABC you will see an unusual mix of people - different socio-economic backgrounds, different races, different clothing, etc. But we all have one thing in common - Jesus. It is through Jesus that we all belong.
Believe
Once you belong, we want you to feel comfortable to explore what the Bible teaches. You will not belong to Grand long before you hear the good news about Jesus. Through our small groups, we have provided you the opportunity to learn about the Gospel, the Bible, and Jesus. We hope that you will take this opportunity to nail down what you BELIEVE. Our sincere desire is that you will believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. In Acts 16:30-31 a man asked Jesus’ followers what he must do to be saved, and the disciples responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
At GABC there are multiple opportunities to learn more - from the main worship service, to Sunday Morning Bible Study, to Wednesday Night Discipleship Classes. All of these are available to you.
Become
Many churches are full of folks that could win Bible trivia games, but very few are actually putting into practice what they learn. Jesus’ goal for our life is to not simply learn more about him, but to BECOME like him. This means that action is required, and a great thing about Jesus is that he did not leave us wondering what we are supposed to be doing. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Our job, as a church, is to equip you to do the ministry of the church and to fulfill the commands of Jesus. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and training that you need to accomplish these and to provide some opportunities, such as mission trips, to practice.
