Grand Avenue Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church. This means that we are a part of the largest group of churches on our planet trying to reach lost people with the gospel. As a part of this denomination, we give a percentage of all our tithes and offerings towards the Cooperative Program. The Cooperative Program is essentially a large pot of money which is used to fund the activities necessary in fulfilling the Great Commission. We believe that as one church we can only do so much to impact the world for Christ, but together we can see greater things happen for Christ and thereby bring more glory to God.
Every year, we also take up offerings that go directly to missions with the highlight being the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. In 2011, GABC gave over $78,000 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering alone. All of this money goes directly to missionaries serving in all parts of the world through the International Mission Board.
For whatever reason, God has chosen the church to be his vehicle to get the gospel to the ends of the earth. For this reason, GABC not only gives generously towards missions, but we have also teamed up with missionaries around the globe in order to support their work by going to them and praying for them. These partnerships are not entered into lightly. They are strategic partnerships meant to lead people in the least evangelized places to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and to get them into their own church-planting churches.
